FurKiNZ 2025

Haere mai e te whanau Furry o Aotearoa - FurcoNZ presents our very first Youth Camp - FurKiNZ 2025!

FurcoNZ Presents FurKiNZ

As part of broadening our reach to help the younger members of our community, FurcoNZ's youth outreach team has rebranded as FurKiNZ - bringing you more exciting events and spaces!

8th - 12th July 2025

Returning to Kokako Lodge, which last saw FurcoNZ in 2012, we're bringing a new event aimed exclusively at our younger furs (9 - 18 years of age)! Coming July 8th-12th (Tuesday afternoon to Saturday afternoon), a week-long camp filled with activities - fursuit making, art, sewing, music, along with lots of social time. We've also got many outdoors activities available from our venue's licensed instructors, ranging from archery to kayaking to tramping.

Registration is now open!

About Us

FurcoNZ has been running as an event since 2002, although more formally since 2007. We run an all ages Camp con at the Forest Lakes lodge in Otaki (near Wellington) and as of 2024 have also started an adults focused Hotel convention at the Holiday Inn located in Auckland.

In early 2024 we trialed running a single day school holiday programme and had amazing feedback. With this, along with a huge growth in interest from parents and children alike, we decided to launch our first dedicated Youth Camp for those 18 and under! We're thrilled to partner with Kokako Lodge who have a long history of delivering school and outdoor education camps, and also have previously hosted FurcoNZ's all ages camp from 2009 to 2011.

The event is run by our core team alongside experienced teachers, instructors, and youth workers who have been part of our community for many years and have gone through extensive background checks. We have a detailed child protection policy in place to ensure safety at the event.

Parents and guardians do have the option to stay onsite, however for all but the youngest children we recommend leaving them to socialise on their own! We have a 24/7 contact number through to our team and can answer any questions or concerns ahead of time. There are also a number of accommodation providers in the nearby area.

Ticket Options

Tickets are $520 for those 9-13 or $600 for 13-18 (if your child is on the border you can pick which category based on where they'd fit in best socially and activity wise).

All tickets include building some of your own fursuit parts under the instruction of our professional fursuit makers, with all equipment and materials provided!

  • Kids can choose building either a basic fursuit head, a tail, or a set of hand paws.
  • Teens can choose building either a fursuit head, or both tail & hand paws together.

You can also choose to build multiple items at an extra cost - and an understanding you may not finish it all while still at camp - but we'll send you home with instructions and contact details to help.

All onsite accommodation and food is included as part of the ticket cost so there's nothing extra to worry about - just got to bring clothes, bedding, and basic camping supplies.

Most of our activities are included free, however we also offer outdoor activities led by our venue such as kayaking, abseiling, archery, etc. These come at a small extra cost to cover paying the instructors.

Parents & Guardians can attend at a discounted rate but won't be able to join in separately on any main activites.

We also have an optional Sponsorship upgrade on tickets - this is zero obligation and will not impact your childs individual experience at camp (to avoid creating rivalries or privilege between attendees). However it helps us immensely running the camp as we keep a very tight budget and every little contribution helps!

Our Team & Volunteers

We've got a small team of passionate volunteers running this camp - a combination of our existing FurcoNZ Camp youth team, our regular Lead Medic, and a set of local fursuit makers and artists to help run the best activities!

While we have some limited space on site, we're always keen for more parent volunteers (subject to police vetting and approvals) - please get in touch if you're keen!

Struggling with the cost?

We appreciate this is a big sum of money, especially if you have more than one child that wants to attend.

You are welcome to register now, reserve your spot, and pay off your ticket over time. Let us know in advance and we're happy to work through a payment plan up until the con dates. We do not currently support any buy-now-pay-later providers, however as you can pay off your ticket fees-free through us this is usually not required.

If cost is a significant issue please get in touch. While our budgets are tight, we have some flexibility for those with multiple kids or where we can use sponsorship money to make things more accessible for those in need. No guarantees, but our preference is always to have as many people as possible enjoy camp!
