Dealers at FurcoNZ Hotel

FurcoNZ will be operating a Dealers Den on Saturday and Sunday.

For those new to FurcoNZ, the dealers den is where attendees may set up a stall to sell their wares - whether that be prints, art commissions, fursuits and fursuit parts, plushies, or any other sort of furry-related merchandise!

Anyone may request to sell at the Den - however we review all entries and ensure that goods are suitable for our event. In future years if demand increases we may work on a pre-signup model.

We encourage everyone to take a browse of the Den, and to support our local artisans and creators. There are always so many amazing products on display!

Buying at the Den

All dealers will accept cash - it is recommended to bring at least a bit.

EFTPOS, Paywave, and Visa/Mastercard are supported via FurcoNZ at most dealers. Some dealers may also accept their own direct payments.

For Dealers

If you wish to have a table at the den, you must sign up through the form at https://furconz.org.nz/hotel-2025/surveys/dealers. FurcoNZ staff reserve the right to deny any dealer registrations at our discretion, and may ask you for details on what you intend to sell. Those exclusively reselling others work (without any association or profit sharing) including dropshipping or selling public domain / open source works will not be permitted.

There will be a cost of $100 per dealer, to help cover room hire and other costs.

The default space per dealer will be a standard trestle table. If you have different requirements, please let us know upon signing up for the Den. Double tables if approved will require a larger fee. If you require power, please let us know - this is very limited, so please advise what equipment you wish to use. Equipment must be tested & tagged ahead of the event - there are many local providers that can do this, if you are travelling internationally please let us know and we can advise cost to have one of our technicians do this during pack-in.

Internet availability is not guaranteed, and if this is required you should liaise with us in advance or organise mobile data.

We will have an EFTPOS/Credit Card system & centralised cash registers provided for dealers. This will be manned by members of FurcoNZ staff, and the funds deposited to you via Bank Transfer within 7 days of FurcoNZ.

Dealers Policy, Terms, and Conditions

FurcoNZ welcomes dealers to apply to exhibit at our events! However, the following policy terms apply.

Dealer tickets or tables are not guaranteed, and FurcoNZ reserves the right to approve or deny any dealer for any reason (other than protected discriminatory classes) at their sole discretion. Individual events may specify additional requirement in addition to these general terms.

Creative Input Criteria

Dealers at FurcoNZ events must primarily sell goods or services that they have significantly contributed to creatively, artistically, or physically. The interpretation of this clause is at the discretion of FurcoNZ Staff. An exception to this is selling on behalf of someone who does not attend, where that person is receiving the majority of the income, and the dealer has explicit permission to do so.

Dealers who meet this criteria are permitted to sell additional items or services that would not meet this criteria on their own, in addition to their primary purpose.

Restricted Products

All items sold must meet the FurcoNZ code of conduct. Artistic representations of prohibited items that do not explicitly glorify or promote them (such as firearms, other weapons, drugs, etc) are allowed as long as they are not the focus of your stand and are not prominently displayed.

None of the following products may be sold without explicit approval (in addition to those banned generally in our code of conduct):

  • Any age restricted products (alcohol, cigarettes, etc)
  • Vape related products
  • Medical products, including medical devices, tests, medications, supplements, or other
  • Animals
  • Animal products (including fur, teeth, bone, or meat)
  • Food, unless commercially packaged or prepared in a commercial kitchen with appropriate certification
  • Siege weapons, including catapults, trebuchets, or industrial grade slingshots
  • Mains powered electrical devices

FurcoNZ staff reserve the right to amend this list at any time, including during the event, at their sole discretion and for any reason.

Electrical Devices

Electrical devices that meet one or more of the following criteria must meet additional requirements to be sold at FurcoNZ Dealer's Den or the NZ Furry Collective:

  • Mains-powered, including devices that use a provided adaptor to plug into the wall
  • Battery-powered from an internal, included, or required lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery.
  • Low voltage or battery-powered devices from any power source that operate above 12V
  • Devices intended to be connected to the body

In order for these products to be sold, FurcoNZ must be provided in advance with at least one of the following, for each type of product:

  • UL certification
  • Supplier Declaration of Conformity
  • NZ issued Electrical Safety Certificate or Certificate of Compliance
  • Letter of inspection signed by a registered electrical worker holding an EAS (or higher) license

If a device only meets this criteria due to an included wall adaptor, only the adaptor must meet the requirements above.

FurcoNZ reserves the right to prohibit any electrical item, even if it does not meet the categories above OR the supplier provides the documentation requested, at our sole discretion and for any reason. All WorkSafe, Health & Safety At Work Act, EWRB, and other government laws and regulations apply and where more restrictive take precedence over this policy. FurcoNZ is not able to provide recommendations or suggestions of electrical workers, certification labs, or providers who issue approval paperwork.

Copyright

Content derivative of copyrighted works (such as art using copyrighted commercial characters) may not be sold without prior approval from the copyright holder, which must be presented to FurcoNZ Staff ahead of the event.

AI Generated Content

As a general rule, AI generated content is NOT permitted.

With case-by-case approval by FurcoNZ Staff, content which uses AI assist tools as part of the process may be permitted (such as AI editing tools in Photoshop, or linework cleanup tools) where they are used as timesaving only and do not overshadow the non-AI artistic input. You MUST check in with FurcoNZ prior to attempting to sell any such content, and we may require it to be labelled as such at our discretion.

Adult Content

Adult content must not be prominently featured, however it can be shown at your stall - preferably under a cover or inside a book.

Extreme content must not be displayed in any way, except by request. The exact definition of this is at FurcoNZ staff discretion.

Payments

FurcoNZ will provide a payment platform to accept EFTPOS, credit card, and cash payments on behalf of dealers. This relies on dealers using a system provided by FurcoNZ to track payments. FurcoNZ will pay out funds to dealers within 7 days of the convention ending, unless otherwise arranged. FurcoNZ is acting as a payment facilitator only, and is not reselling or purchasing your products. Tax and other legal obligations are the responsibility of dealers only. Dealers are welcome (and encouraged) to provide their own payment methods as well if they wish! FurcoNZ does not provide change or floats to dealers. We recommend you bring your own.

Legal and Compliance

Dealers are responsible for their own tax obligations (including GST) and are advised to take independent advice if required. This applies whether dealers take their own payments or use FurcoNZ to accept their payments.

Dealers are responsible for all legal compliance, including fair advertising and the Consumer Guarantees Act.
